Design of the School Courtyard Oasis in Puteaux
As part of our commitment to creating educational and playful outdoor spaces, Landscape Consulting has transformed the school courtyard in Puteaux into a true oasis for children. Inspired by nature and centered around the theme of the snail, this courtyard offers an environment that is both educational and recreational, designed to stimulate the students' imagination and reconnect them with nature.
A Courtyard Inspired by the Snail:
The project revolves around the snail, a symbol that is accessible and fascinating for children. At the entrance, a slide shaped like a snail's head welcomes young students, inviting them to explore this unique space. The design incorporates natural elements such as playgrounds shaped like cork leaves, a winding river representing the snail's shell, and a water mirror forming its tail. These elements are designed to encourage children to interact with their environment in a playful and educational way.
Sustainable Materials and Eco-Friendly Approach
Every aspect of the courtyard has been designed to minimize the environmental footprint while maximizing interaction with nature. The ground is largely made of wooden logs and sand, materials that offer permeability and reduce environmental impact. The plantings include aromatic herbs and berry shrubs, cultivated in a spiral garden that is naturally watered by a rainwater harvesting system. This choice of plants allows children to discover local biodiversity and actively participate in their care, further strengthening their connection with nature.
A Space for Play and Learning:
The oasis courtyard is not just a simple play area. It includes an educational vegetable garden, wooden planting beds, and an insect hotel, all built with materials sourced from French supply chains and recyclable resources. This space thus becomes a real outdoor classroom, where students can learn through play, discover nature's cycles, and develop a deep respect for their environment.
